Report: WWE NXT Superstars Have Been Worried About Moving To The Main Roster "For Years"

Since Ricochet lost to Brock Lesnar in 90 seconds at Super ShowDown, reports have suggested that Vince McMahon is done with the former United States Champion. He now finds himself in the lower mid-card wrestling the likes of Riddick Moss and Eric Young. The One And Only isn't the first NXT call-up who has failed to click on the main roster with the boss. Despite being one of the biggest stars in IMPACT Wrestling, EC3 has done nothing of note on Raw or SmackDown and he hasn't even had a match since September 30, 2019. Yet, they are only two competitors in a sea of Superstars who flopped once Vince took over their booking.  

This hasn't gone unnoticed in NXT, as Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that wrestlers on the black and gold brand have been worried for years about moving to Raw and SmackDown. He said: "People have been worrying about this for years. Talent is no guarantee that's for sure. Nothing is a guarantee."   

However, with NXT now on the USA Network to compete with AEW: Dynamite, times have seemingly changed. While Superstars in the past would spend a short amount of time in developmental, NXT is now treated as WWE's third brand, with Stars like Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa having already spent years on Wednesday nights.
