IMPACT Wrestling held their Under Siege IMPACT Plus special in Newport, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 7, and the show featured one title change and two major returns.

The IMPACT World Tag Team Championships were on the line at Under Siege as Violent By Design's Deaner and Eric Young defended the gold against The Briscoes only weeks after Dem Boys had returned to the promotion.

Both teams battled back and forth throughout the contest but it was The Briscoes who emerged victorious after they decked Deaner with a Doomsday Device to begin their first reign as IMPACT World Tag Team Champions.

A major return also took place following Taya Valkyrie's successful defence of the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Deonna Purrazzo.

After the match, Purrazzo attacked Valkyrie but the lights suddenly went out in the arena and Mia Yim was stood opposite The Virtuosa when they came back on. Yim then went to check on Valkyrie before she suddenly had to block an attack from Purrazzo and the former RETRIBUTION member ultimately gained the upper hand, standing tall to end the segment. Yim will be a feature in IMPACT going forward and it was then revealed the former Knockouts World Champion had re-signed with the promotion.

That wasn't the only lights out moment on the card, though, as Sami Callihan made his return, interrupting a Moose promo after The Wrestling God tried to hijack the show. Callihan, wielding a baseball bat when the lights came back on, levelled the man who took responsibility for injuring him in September 2021 and The Death Machine ended the segment on top following a baseball bat shot and the Cactus Driver 97.

In the main event, Josh Alexander defended the IMPACT World Title against New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Tomohiro Ishii and both men ended the show with a hard-hitting affair. It was The Walking Weapon who came out on top, though, following a Powerbomb and C4 Spike to Ishii for the win.

A match originally planned for Under Siege also didn't take place. Alex Shelley was scheduled to take on 'Speedball' Mike Bailey on the show but the card was reshuffled due to Shelley already being booked for an independent wrestling event. Instead, Bailey wrestled in a Three-Way against Rich Swann and Laredo Kid on the pre-show.
