Josh Alexander Bothered By Wrestlers Using IMPACT As A Stepping Stone

IMPACT being a stepping stone is a knock against the promotion, Alexander believes

While many wrestlers have appeared in IMPACT Wrestling and moved on to WWE or All Elite Wrestling, with Brian Cage and MSK being recent examples, Josh Alexander chose to remain with the Anthem-owned promotion when his deal expired earlier this year.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his IMPACT World Title match at Rebellion, Alexander admitted he is bothered by talent using IMPACT as a stepping stone.

"I've always been bothered that IMPACT has been used as a stepping stone. To me, that's a knock against the company. I had other options, but I chose to stay with IMPACT Wrestling," The Walking Weapon said.

Shortly after Alexander's storyline suspension from IMPACT was announced, the former IMPACT World Champion was namedropped on AEW Dynamite. The Walking Weapon revealed he never wanted to leave IMPACT, though.

"I never wanted to leave. Brandi [Rhodes] calling me out in AEW, that prompted the news cycle to think I was going to AEW, but I never wanted to leave IMPACT," he added.

Alexander re-signed with IMPACT on a multi-year deal earlier this year and he previously noted that his contract expiring was simply a storyline, with a deal in principle having been agreed when his previous contract expired.
