Kazuchika Okada Announces Donation To COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight champion Kazuchika Okada is aiding with coronavirus relief efforts in Japan.
New Japan announced through their website that Okada is donating five million yen (the rough equivalent of $47,000 American, or 37,800 pounds) to the Nippon Foundation's coronavirus relief fund. The fund benefits doctors, nurses, and others working at the forefront of the ongoing pandemic.
Okada released a statement on his donation, saying, "I’m always grateful for NJPW fans’ support, and it’s my hope that I can get back to hearing the cheers of sold out crowds as soon as possible.
"It’s usually me receiving the support and power of the people, but now I feel it’s my turn to lend support to medical staff fighting this disease.
"I hope fans continue to stay home and stay healthy, so that we can return to the ring as soon as possible."
The pandemic has caused New Japan to cancel the Best of the Super Juniors tournament that was scheduled to begin this month. The company has also postponed the Wrestle Dynasty card, scheduled in August for Madison Square Garden, to 2021.
