NJPW Open To Japanese Forbidden Door Event If Demand Is There

If AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is a success we could be in for a sequel

The recent announcement of the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV has caused excitement amongst wrestling fans, and opened up discussions about potential match-ups, and the possibility of subsequent events.

Now, NJPW President Takami Ohbari has revealed that New Japan would be open to hosting a return event in Japan, telling Sports Illustrated: “Traveling between Japan and the U.S. is no longer a significant problem,” said Ohbari. “If Japanese fans are invested in this event and the demand is there, then there will absolutely be the impetus for us to take the next step of holding an event in Japan.”

The Forbidden Door event has been long speculated by wrestling fans, especially due to the likes of former AEW World Champions Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley working for NJPW concurrently with their AEW run, whilst the likes of Yuji Nagata, KENTA, and Satoshi Kojima have wrestled at AEW shows.

NJPW previously enjoyed a working relationship with Ring of Honor, with the two companies co-promoting shows across Japan and the United States, with the NJPW ROH G-1 Supercard in New York’s Madison Square Garden serving as the apex of this relationship in April 2019.
