Olympic Gold Medallist Makes WWE Debut After Impressing Officials

Tyra Mae Steele makes WWE TV debut

An Olympic gold medallist made their debut at the July 2 taping of NXT Level Up.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock, wrestling as Tyra Mae Steele, faced Wren Sinclair at the Level Up tapings ahead of Tuesday night's edition of NXT TV. The match was Mae Steele's first-ever televised contest and it will air on Friday's episode of Level Up. The Olympic gold medallist was ultimately unsuccessful in her first televised match, suffering defeat at the hands of Sinclair.

Mae Steele's NXT debut comes amidst her impressing NXT officials, according to Fightful's Corey Brennan

"Tamyra Mensah-Stock made her NXT Level Up debut tonight. She has been impressing many in NXT with how quickly she has taken to pro wrestling, and initially wasn't expected on television so soon," Brennan tweeted.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock has been a part of WWE since May 2023. She won an Olympic gold medal at the 2021 games in Tokyo, winning a gold in freestyle wrestling. She then won gold at the 2022 World Championships in Serbia.

Mensah-Stock made her in-ring debut in March 2024 and she had two more matches at house shows before the Level Up match.
