Report: Backstage News On Canyon Ceman's WWE Release

Ceman was let go on July 23

WWE Vice President of Talent Development Canyon Ceman was let go by the company on Friday after six years in the role.

Initial reports of Ceman's release surfaced several weeks ago, but WWE clarified that he had not been let go at that time.

While he was not released then, WWE made the decision to let Ceman go when the initial reports surfaced, according to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer. The company decided to hold off on the official release, though, because they wanted Ceman being let go to be done in "a certain way" and WWE wanted to ensure he knew about it in advance.

Ceman was released by WWE as part of restructuring in the talent relations department under John Laurinaitis, according to Meltzer. The former volleyball player was one of the main people in the department under Triple H, but Laurinaitis will take on his duties of scouting and recruiting for WWE's developmental system.

Before joining WWE, Ceman was a pro volleyball player and he later worked as the chief financial officer for the Association of Volleyball Professionals. He was hired by WWE in 2012 as senior director of talent relations and he would later become vice president of talent development in 2015.
