Report: CM Punk Backstage At Monday's WWE Raw, Asked To Leave

Raw takes place tonight in Chicago

CM Punk was backstage at tonight's WWE Raw in Chicago, according to reports from both PWInsider and Fightful Select.

Per PWInsider's report, Punk was visiting backstage at the Allstate Arena. Several sources in WWE claim that Punk briefly met with Paul Levesque, and other talents, before being asked to leave the building. Fightful's report notes that Punk briefly spoke with Levesque, and said that he also spoke with The Miz.

Fightful also wrote regarding the possible reasoning, "Numerous wrestlers in WWE believed that the move was a publicity stunt for a return to AEW soon."

PWInsider writes that it was Vince McMahon's call that Punk be told to leave, and that he did so after saying his goodbyes. Fightful notes that Punk left without incident.

Punk remains under contract with All Elite Wrestling, where he's expected to return in the coming months. A possible target date is a Saturday night card at the United Center in Chicago on June 17.

Punk has not appeared for AEW since September 4, when he railed against various individuals at the post-All Out scrum, before engaging in a heated skirmish with members of The Elite in the locker room. Punk was suspended after the incident, and stripped of the world title he'd just won.
