Report: Reason For AEW Fight Forever's Unusual Release Date Revealed

More on the AEW Fight Forever release date

After three years of development, AEW Fight Forever is set to be released very soon, with All Elite Wrestling and THQ Nordic announcing the console video game will reach digital and physical stores on Thursday, June 29. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Thursday is an unusual release date for a video game, with titles typically reaching store shelves on a Tuesday or possibly a Friday in Europe if the publisher opts for a staggered release. According to WrestleZone, the atypical release date is tied to All Elite Wrestling programming as the plan is for there to be "heavy synergy" between Fight Forever and the Wednesday, June 28 episode of Dynamite in an attempt to drive last-minute pre-orders. The idea is the majority of pre-orders will be through digital marketplaces and prospective buyers will be able to play the game only two hours after Dynamite goes off the air on the East Coast of the United States.

With the release date having been announced, THQ Nordic and AEW are set to ramp up marketing for Fight Forever over the next several weeks.

Alongside a career mode and multiple customisation options, Fight Forever will feature multiplayer and a range of match types, including the Casino Battle Royale and an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match.
