Report: Update On Jay White's NJPW Future

Is he leaving NJPW?

Following his main event loss to Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 15, Jay White cut a widely praised promo during which he said he was done with New Japan Pro-Wrestling after New Year Dash.

Many wondered if Switchblade's promo was a work or not and the questions only increased after White was pinned in the centre of the ring by Tomohiro Ishii on January 6.

The promo now appears to have been more than a storyline. According to the Super J-Cast podcast, there are doubts about if the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion will extend his New Japan contract. WWE is reportedly "making a strong play" to sign him and the odds of White remaining with NJPW are currently 50/50.

Super J-Cast tweeted: "Several sources have indicated there is some doubt whether Jay White will extend his NJPW contract, rumoured to be up at the end of the month. WWE are believed to be making a strong play for him and it’s 50/50 whether he stays or goes."
