Report: Update On Sami Zayn's WWE Contract

Zayn may be with WWE until next year

Sami Zayn's WWE contract may not expire in 2021 after all.

After it emerged that Kevin Owens' WWE contract would be expiring on January 31, 2022, many became curious about Sami Zayn's status with the company. Dave Meltzer then reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Great Liberator's contract expired later this year, although the exact date was not known.

This may not be the case, though. Wrestling author and historian Pat Laprade noted in Lutte. Quebec that Zayn's WWE contract actually expires in spring 2022, sometime around March or early April.

Zayn told Laprade in April 2019 that he had re-signed with WWE on a three-year deal before his first of two shoulder surgeries, meaning Sami re-upped with the company around late May or early June 2018. Zayn was then on the shelf for nine months and WWE added that time to his contract.

The former Intercontinental Champion also missed six months at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that time wasn't added to his contract as WWE allowed talent to remain at home without punishment.
