Rob Van Dam, Katie Forbes Part Ways With Impact Wrestling

RVD's last match took place a week ago...

One week after filming a match for Impact Wrestling, Rob Van Dam has departed the promotion, along with girlfriend Katie Forbes, according to PWInsider, and confirmed by Dave Meltzer.

Van Dam wrestled Sami Callihan on last week's episode of Impact, defeating him in a one on one match where if Callihan lost, Forbes would get five minutes alone with him. Callihan ended up brutalizing both heels, including piledriving Forbes, to conclude the angle.

Van Dam and Forbes had been working without a contract prior to finishing up a week ago. They'd been working under a series of short-term agreements.

An Impact World champion during his first tenure a decade ago, Van Dam returned to Impact in the spring of 2019. There, he worked with ECW veterans such as Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and Rhino in a reunion angle against modern Impact talents.

Forbes also signed with Impact in 2019, and joined up with Van Dam following his eventual heel turn.

Van Dam (who turns 50 in December) had recently spoken about his future in wrestling. He admitted he's done virtually all there is to do except retire, though he added, "I'm also not saying it's not going to be tomorrow."
