Roman Reigns Vs. Finn Balor Set For 9/3 WWE SmackDown

For the Universal title

WWE has announced that Universal champion Roman Reigns will go one on one with Finn Balor for the title on next Friday's SmackDown in Jacksonville.

Balor issued the challenge on Friday night's SmackDown, after disrupting a championship celebration involving Reigns and The Usos.

Balor said that he was originally going to issue a challenge to Reigns for Extreme Rules, but with Lesnar and Edge waiting in the wings for their own shots, he decided he'd rather not wait, thus Balor demanded the match for next week.

The segment then degenerated into a brawl involving Reigns, the Usos, Balor, and the Street Profits. Reigns managed to escape as the babyfaces took the Usos out.

As part of an angle leading to SummerSlam, Balor was all set to face Reigns for the Universal title. During the contract signing to make the match official, Balor was attacked by Baron Corbin before he was able to sign. John Cena then attacked Corbin as Corbin went to sign the contract himself. With both Balor and Corbin incapacitated, Cena signed the contract for the SummerSlam title match with Reigns.
