Sammy Guevara Captures Undisputed TNT Title At AEW Beach Break

Following a hellacious ladder match

Sammy Guevara is the undisputed AEW TNT champion, after defeating Cody Rhodes in a ladder match at AEW's "Beach Break" edition of Dynamite on Wednesday night in Cleveland.

In the final sequence, Guevara performed a flipping senton off a ladder onto Rhodes, who was laid out on a ladder bridge at ringside. Guevara went to climb for the two suspended belts, but a revived Rhodes managed to briefly hinder him atop the ladder. During the brief struggle, Guevara grabbed the hanging bar holding both belts, and smashed Rhodes with one belt, knocking him off to the canvas. Guevara then unhooked both belts to win.

Rhodes' reign ends at 35 days. He originally won the TNT title from Guevara at a Rampage taping on December 22 in Greensboro, with the match airing Christmas night. Guevara had previously reigned for 84 days with the title.

Guevara became the interim TNT champion after defeating Dustin Rhodes at Battle of the Belts on January 8 in Charlotte. Cody was unable to make a title defense against Guevara that night due to medical reasons, spurring a match to crown an interim titleholder.

As interim champion, Guevara successfully defended the title against Daniel Garcia on January 12.
