Taz Confirms Reports He Will Be Out With Knee Surgery

Taz will be off AEW programming for some time

It was reported yesterday that AEW commentator Taz will be off AEW programming for the foreseeable future, with Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealing that he was set to undergo knee surgery, and that he was pushed towards taking this decision by his wife. Whilst this was speculation at first, it has now been confirmed by the man himself, who took to X to reveal why he would be away from AEW for the time being.

“Unfortunately, I will be out for awhile. I’ll be having total knee replacement surgery very soon. Talk to you guys down the road.”

He hasn’t provided a timeframe on how long he will be out. On AEW TV, an angle took place in which it was revealed that Taz was attacked in the parking lot by an unnamed assailant, leading to Nigel McGuinness being drafted in “last minute” as a replacement for his seat on the commentary desk. Hook cut a promo on Dynamite declaring revenge for whoever attacked his father. It was hinted that Christian Cage was the man behind the attack, though this has not been confirmed.
