Update On Randy Orton Following Back Surgery

Latest on Randy Orton

An update on Randy Orton has emerged, courtesy of his father "Cowboy" Bob Orton.

Speaking during a K&S WrestleFest signing, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed Randy will be back "before you know it."

"He's [Randy Orton] coming along. I see him maybe once a week or so. But he's coming along. He'll be back in there before you know it," Orton said.

Randy Orton has been out of action with a back injury since the May 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown when he and Matt Riddle dropped the Raw Tag Team Championships to The Usos. Orton was written off TV following the match with a beatdown from The Bloodline.

WWE originally had plans in place for Orton to return and reportedly turn on Riddle but The Viper's back injury was discovered to be worse than first feared. Fightful Select reported that Orton has undergone fusion surgery on his lower back and some in WWE believe they'll be fortunate if Orton wrestles again.

Shawn Michaels underwent spinal fusion surgery in 1998 after suffering a serious back injury. He did not return to the squared circle until 2002.
