Figures within AEW have given their reaction to CM Punk's recent interview with Ariel Helwani, where he discussed (among other things) the reported incident with Jack Perry at All In 2023.

According to Fightful Select, some AEW sources don't dispute Punk's recounting of the AEW Collision argument which is thought to have led to the Wembley Stadium backstage altercation. Instead, according to the Fightful report:

"We're told by those in AEW that the issue wasn't as much that Punk didn't want the glass to be used. Instead it was that Punk had recounted the story to media and talent to the point to where the disagreement went public, after he'd had similar grievances in the past. We're told that his recounting of the original disagreement was accurate."

Fightful Select also reached out to AEW talent, and state that one Punk supporter within the promotion believed "that the interview was bound to happen, and that they personally hope that's the last they hear of it until hopefully one day fences are mended."

Punk's interview wasn't warmly received by everyone, though, and some within the company believe nobody did more damage to AEW than CM Punk, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

"The people that I've heard from had kind of similar viewpoints to me in that some of the stuff he said, especially a lot on Tony Khan as far as how he handles things, you know we pretty much all I think agree that it should have been settled and the idea of keeping people apart and all that was not a good idea. I think the other aspect of it was from people in the company was that he's talking like all this and nobody did more damage to the company than he did... The general feeling is, there is certainly exceptions, that the best thing would have been for this relationship never to happen. And maybe Punk would even say the same thing. He made great money but I don't think this left a great feeling in his mouth either," Meltzer said.

Punk is now a WWE Superstar once again, and although he sustained an injury at this year's Royal Rumble, he is still set to be a part of WrestleMania 40. He will commentate the World Heavyweight Championship bout between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, and confirmed in the same interview with Helwani that he'll be a part of both nights' kickoff shows.
