AEW Sign Kris Statlander

Right from under WWE's nose.

In last week's Wresting Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer reported that Kris Statlander would likely sign with All Elite Wrestling. He noted that Statlander was close to a deal with WWE, and the company was under the impression she was going to join them in January. However, WWE did not forward a contract to Statlander, allowing AEW to swoop in and book her on Dynamite and Dark.

Now AEW's Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes has confirmed AEW have indeed signed Statlander, right from under WWE's nose.

The former WSU Spirit Champion has featured prominently in the young promotion in recent weeks. She made her debut on episode seven of Dark, teaming with Big Swole in a losing effort to Britt Baker and AEW Women's Champion Riho.

Statlander has also appeared on the past two episodes of Dynamite. On last week's episode she teamed with Hikaru Shida, losing to Bea Priestley and Emi Sakura in a tag team contest. However, Statlander was able to end her mini-losing streak last night, as she emerged victorious against the #1 ranked Shida in a singles bout.
