AJ Styles Appearance Sees WWE NXT Viewership Rise But 18-49 Demo Drops To Joint Low

A mixed week in the numbers

An appearance from AJ Styles helped WWE NXT viewership levels rise to their highest ever in the month of December.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the December 21 episode of NXT averaged at 591,000 viewers on the USA Network, which is an increase of 5.4 per cent from the week before. This makes this week's showing of NXT the best viewed for the program during the month of December.

However, in the crucial 18-49 demographic, NXT only claimed a 0.11 rating, which is a decrease of 21.4 per cent from the previous week.

The 0.11 rating is tied with the show's record-low in that category on the USA Network. Worryingly for WWE's developmental brand, NXT has registered the same record-low number three times in the last six weeks.

Once again, NXT's overall audience figure was carried by viewers over the age of 50, with the category rising by 12.5 per cent. NXT saw a drop in viewership across every other demographic, with the largest coming in the 18-34 age bracket.
