Assassin's Creed Congratulates Will Ospreay Following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom Entrance
Will Ospreay congratulated by Assassin’s Creed following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom entrance
Wrestle Kingdom is one of the biggest wrestling shows of the entire year, with wrestlers often pulling out all the stops every January 4, both in the ring and on the way to it.
At Wrestle Kingdom 18, Will Ospreay paid homage to Jacob Frye from 2015 video game release Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, with the ‘Aerial Assassin’ coming to the ring in a top hat and trench coat, like Frye.
Ospreay later took to X/Twitter to show a closer look at his entrance gear, posting the following: “Thank you to @Ubisoft and @assassinscreed for allowing me to live a lifelong dream at Wrestle Kingdom! I hope you all enjoyed it!”
To which the official Assassin’s Creed account replied, posting: “Congrats to the Aerial Assassin @WillOspreay on an spectacular match at #WrestleKingdom. Amazing ring gear! #WeAreAssassins”
Ospreay’s in-ring persona is heavily inspired by the Assassin’s Creed series, with his Hidden Blade finisher an overt reference to the assassins’ weapon of choice. Ospreay also now has the logo of the series tattooed on his left bicep.
In past years, Wrestle Kingdom has seen Kenny Omega pay homage to the video game world in his entrance attire, with Omega dressing as Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth, and a homage to Destiny 2’s Osiris complete with Vigilance Wing prop.
