The revival of Los Perros del Mal in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is believed to have been a Jeremy Borash idea, and it had been included on a list of planned big angles for around one year, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

A new version of Los Perros del Mal debuted at the June 20 episode of AAA TV as Daga, Berto, Angel, Bronco Nima, and Karmen Petrovic laid out El Grande Americano, the top babyface of AAA. The faction then removed their jackets to reveal Los Perros del Mal t-shirts.

According to Meltzer, the decision to have the new version of Los Perros del Mal debut on June 20 was because of Daga's contract with Pro Wrestling NOAH expiring and WWE/AAA being able to sign him to a full-time deal as he was a member of the original Los Perros Del Mal headed by Perro Aguayo Jr. Karmen Petrovic was added to the stable because she has blonde hair and speaks fluent Spanish, while Bronco Nima was brought in for the faction as WWE like the idea of having a big guy in the stable.

WWE reportedly received the blessing of Perro Aguayo Jr's family to bring back Los Perros del Mal, with the late wrestler's cousin Kahn del Mal believed to be in charge of the Perros del Mal name and logo. WWE are working to secure 'Perros' by Cartel de Santa as Los Perros del Mal's theme song once again.

Los Perros del Mal is one of the biggest factions in Lucha Libre history. It was created by Perro Aguayo Jr. in 2004 when he turned on El Hijo del Santo in CMLL. The faction was a part of CMLL until 2008, when the faction left to start their own promotion. Los Perros del Mal then debuted in AAA in 2010 and continued to be featured in the promotion until 2019, even beyond Aguayo Jr's sudden passing in 2015.
