Backstage News On AEW Signing Jen Pepperman
Mercedes Moné looks to be getting her own writer in AEW
Feb 22, 2024
Mercedes Moné may have her own personal writer when she makes her AEW debut.
Moné reportedly signed with All Elite Wrestling in December 2023 and AEW's current 'worst kept secret in wrestling' storyline will lead to her debut at AEW Big Business on March 13. Moné will have someone close to her when she does debut as Jen Pepperman has been hired as AEW Vice President of Content Development. Pepperman had previously been a part of WWE on the creative team since April 2017 but she departed the organisation in recent weeks.
Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE expected Pepperman to land in All Elite Wrestling due to her relationship as Mercedes Moné's personal writer. Pepperman was known to be close to Moné during the former Sasha Banks' time in WWE.
"When she quit last week I was actually told by WWE that they expected her to be in AEW very soon because of her connection with Mercedes as Mercedes' personal writer like Brian Gewirtz is for Dwayne Johnson," Meltzer said.
Pepperman's new role will see her work alongside Tony Khan on AEW creative, developing content for Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision.
Tony Khan said about Pepperman's signing in an official statement: "Adding Jennifer Pepperman's brilliant mind to the AEW team opens the door for exciting new ideas and will help us build upon the incredible stories currently developing on the road to AEW Revolution across our three weekly shows on TBS and TNT, and the effects of Jennifer's arrival in AEW will be felt for many years in the future. We're thrilled to welcome her today, and I look forward to her creativity and collaboration with our team across the board in what will be AEW's biggest year yet, and beyond."
