AJ Styles made his return from injury at the Royal Rumble, making his way to the ring with his original WWE theme of 'Phenomenal.'

Styles had used the song from his WWE debut at Royal Rumble 2016 until 2024's WrestleMania 40 when he changed his theme music to 'They Don't Want None.'

The song change was widely panned and Styles revealed on Insight with Chris Van Vliet why he switched back to 'Phenomenal' upon his return.

"It was my call to change it [when I turned heel] too. Because as a bad guy I thought my song was a little too cool. Everybody loves that song. I love the song, but that's not who I was trying to be. I wanted you to not like me, that you despised me. I thought well if I change the song up, people are going to hate it, perfect. Then when I knew I was coming back and I'm going to be the good guy again, I was like I want my old music back. And nobody said anything. They were like, 'Yep, that's fine.' So yeah, that was my decision," Styles said.

'They Don't Want None' was a Def Rebel production and WWE's music group has been heavily criticised both inside and outside of the company, with fans often struggling to differentiate between themes.

Styles also revealed that he will retire by June 2027, when he is set to turn 50.
