Jake Roberts Reveals Unusual Reason The Undertaker Travelled With Him

Jake Roberts made an indelible impression on The Undertaker, with Taker having mentioned on several occasions how Roberts took him under his wing and taught him a lot about character.

The two travelled together in the early 1990s during their time in the WWE, but during a recent appearance at the For The Love of Wrestling convention, Roberts spoke of why he and ‘The Dead Man’ travelled together:

"Not that I can tell," Roberts said when asked of specific road stories about himself and Taker. "Statute of limitations is not yet. Mark, he travelled with me when he first came to WWE because I knew where all the strip joints were, that's the truth. But he was a great student, he listened to me, we did a lot of miles on the road, we talked about wrestling, we talked about interviews, we talked about everything. I just finished doing a podcast with him, I did his podcast and he told me that I taught him so much about what to do in the ring and I taught him so much [about] what not to do outside the ring."

Roberts and Undertaker formed a short-lived team in 1991, with the two eventually becoming foes in 1992 as Jake became the second victim of Undertaker’s fabled WrestleMania streak, with The Deadman putting Roberts away at WrestleMania VIII. The Undertaker would later vouch for Roberts during ‘The Snake’s WWE return in 1996.
