One week on from Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada V being made official for AEW All In, it has been announced their match will be for the new AEW Unified Championship.
A contract signing took place at AEW Summer Blockbuster on Wednesday night and it was announced that the International and Continental titles held by Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada will be unified at All In to create the AEW Unified Title, with the winner at All In leaving with the new championship.
After the contracts were signed, it was revealed Okada had formed an alliance with Don Callis, with Okada taking out Omega, which left the Best Bout Machine needing to be stretchered out of the arena.
Fightful Select has reported that Okada vs. Omega V has been tentatively planned for almost a year and the match has been planned for All In since December 2024.
Some fans have questioned why AEW didn't name the unified title the AEW Intercontinental Championship, but Fightful noted they haven't heard if the name was ever considered. All Elite Wrestling are planning to book the AEW Unified Championship as another top title in AEW as opposed to a "mid or upper mid-card" title.
The announcement of Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada has been credited within AEW for moving over 1,400 tickets in the past week for All In, which will emanate from Arlington's Globe Life Field on Saturday, July 12. WrestleTix has reported that 17,485 tickets have been distributed for All In as of June 11.
