Backstage News On Mark Briscoe Winning The ROH World Title

The plans behind Mark Briscoe's ROH World Title victory

Eleven years to the day that his late brother Jay Briscoe became the ROH World Champion, Mark Briscoe became the brand new ROH World Champion at Friday’s ROH Supercard Of Honor PPV event. Briscoe defeated former champion Eddie Kingston in the main event of the show to win his first ever world title in professional wrestling. He was treated with a big celebration, with many of his allies and other babyfaces coming to the ring to lift him up high on their shoulders.

When it comes to the plans ahead of Briscoe’s victory at ROH Supercard Of Honor, PWInsider has revealed that the plan for this win was something a long time in the making, and that this dated back to even back before Briscoe was ruled out with knee surgery last year.

Brisoce spent four months out of the ring, which led to him being taken out of a scheduled ROH World Championship match against Claudio Castagnoli at the Death Before Dishonor PPV. It isn’t known if Briscoe’s win was set to come then, or if the plan was always to wait for this very specific and special date.
