Backstage News On Plans For AEW's Women's Division After Debut Of Mercedes Moné

AEW's women's division could be set for more time now that Mercedes Moné is in the company

The arrival of Mercedes Moné is a big thing for the women’s division in AEW, with her set to be one of the highest paid names in women’s wrestling, being handed an entire event based around her debut.

When it comes to the future of the women’s division, which has been often criticised for its lack of time on each show, it looks as though the women’s roster will in fact be getting some more time now that Moné is here. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select revealed what he’d heard last month regarding plans for the division.

“Jack says CEO branding for Mercedes seems like a level-up way of calling her the boss, but does Mercedes' arrival in AEW lead to any increased prominence booking or more matches for women? Yes, I would say that it does. The last that I had heard was that basically, the way that I was told about a month ago, there would basically be the Mercedes segment as well as a woman segment now. That remains to be seen if it's actually going to take place if it's actually going to happen like that. But that's what I was led to believe.”

In terms of time on AEW programming, fans could be looking at double the attention the women’s division previously got.
