Backstage Reactions To Meiko Satomura's Retirement Announcement

All the reaction to Meiko Satomura's wrestling retirement announcement

It was revealed over the last few days that the iconic Meiko Satomura would be officially retiring from professional wrestling in 2025, bringing to an end a near thirty-year career. Despite being under WWE contract, the former NXT UK Women’s Champion hasn’t wrestled on televised WWE programming since March 2023. WWE’s recent Japan tour saw her wrestle for the first time in the company for over a year.

Following the news of her upcoming retirement, there has been some backstage reaction revealed and some potential news about her WWE future, per Fightful Select. When it comes to a return to WWE TV, it is not something which is expected, with no plans on her being used before retirement, nor any sort of farewell WrestleMania match. It is also not believed that she will compete in the US during her retirement tour.

Fightful were told by NXT sources that this was not a surprising announcement given her lack of presence in the company, but there was a lot of praise for her coaching work in NXT and NXT UK. There was also some disappointment that her run on NXT in the US was not especially long, only lasting around a month.

When looking ahead the belief is that Satomura is concentrating on her own promotion of Sendai Girls.
