NJPW Resurgence 2025 took place on May 9 last night at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, and it proved to be a notable event for more than one reason. Mercedes Moné finally lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship, The Good Brothers and The Young Bucks reunited to defeat the current day BULLET CLUB, and new Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions were crowned. A big moment also took place at the pre-show.
Bea Priestley (formerly known as Blair Davenport in WWE) made a surprise appearance on the pre show to take on Viva Van of AEW/ROH. She announced that her 90-day non compete clause with WWE had officially ended, before taking it to Viva Van in a quick and dominant display. This marks Priestley’s first match on an official NJPW card, but she did previously work in the World Wonder Ring STARDOM promotion between the years of 2017 and 2021.
Priestley spoke exclusively with Cultaholic’s Tom Campbell over the last week, discussing her plans following her WWE exit, revealing herself as being open to talks with AEW and facing the likes of reigning AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm. She sneakily made no mention of her impending appearance in NJPW, leaving it as a full surprise.
