Plans for a movie about Hulk Hogan and his lawsuit against Gawker won't be reaching the big screen any time soon.

TMZ has reported that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company Artists Equity has decided not to move forward with production of 'Killing Gawker', a planned movie about the high-profile court case of Bollea vs. Gawker.

The decision was unrelated to Hulk Hogan's death, with Affleck and Damon choosing to scrap the project a while ago for an undisclosed reason. Hogan passed away on Thursday, July 24 following a cardiac arrest.

It was revealed in August 2024 that Artists Equity had picked up the screenplay for Killing Gawker, with Ben Affleck tipped to play The Hulkster, while Matt Damon would have portrayed Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal who funded Hogan's lawsuit against the website. Hogan had no involvement with the project and he was reportedly indifferent about the mooted motion picture, although he was willing to pursue legal action if the flick infringed on his privacy.

Hogan ultimately won Bollea vs. Gawker, being awarded $140 million which resulted in Gawker's closure in August 2016. The lawsuit was filed over Gawker publishing portions of a secretly-recorded sex tape involving Hogan and Heather Clem, the wife of Bubba the Love Sponge.
