An investigation into Hulk Hogan's death by the Clearwater Police Department was officially closed on May 26, with the report on the investigation being published on Friday, June 5.

Within a summary of the final case, it was stated: "Following an exhaustive review of the statements, medical records, surveillance footage from within the residence, and a visual inspection of Mr. Bollea's body, there has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural. Through the course of the investigation, there has been no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death. This case will be closed, and will be considered solved, non-criminal."

It was noted that a private autopsy was performed on August 16, 2025. The autopsy concluded that Hulk Hogan - real name Terry Bollea - passed away "exclusively from compelling natural disease, with no reasonable traumatic or terminal toxicologic contributions. As such, the manner of death is also natural."

Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24, 2025 at the age of 71. The official cause of death was ruled to be a heart attack. Hogan had been suffering from declining health since undergoing neck fusion surgery in May of 2025.

In an interview with police, Hulk Hogan's widow Sky Daily noted that, in addition to the neck fusion surgery, Hogan had an operation on his heart to repair a valve three weeks before his passing. At this time, Hogan was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, and he began chemotherapy before his passing.

Hulk Hogan's manager Christopher Volo also stated that Hulk Hogan had been diagnosed with kidney failure and had been placed on dialysis a couple of weeks before his death.

It was alleged following Hogan's passing that his death may have been the result of medical malpractice, with it being alleged that Hogan's phrenic nerve was severed during neck fusion surgery in May of 2025. The phrenic nerve is essential to a human's ability to breathe as it controls the diaphragm, and it was alleged that Hogan did not have a chest-clenching episode and simply stopped breathing during his heart attack.

The police investigation noted the allegation was made by Hogan's occupational therapist shortly after his passing, but in a follow-up interview with police, the occupational therapist stated "all information he knew regarding Mr. Bollea's medical condition was gleaned from the tablet his company provides him. [Occupational therapist] advised he had no prior or additional knowledge regarding Mr. Bollea's health conditions, other than what was in the medical record on his tablet."

The occupational therapist stated that "when he made comments about the phrenic nerve injury, he spoke out of turn and was nervous after having just performed CPR on Mr. Bollea, which was the first time he had done so in his life."
