Bryan Danielson recently ended his full-time professional wrestling career, bowing out following a loss to Jon Moxley at the 2024 WrestleDream PPV, dropping the AEW World Championship in the process. It was noted in the lead-up that he was dealing with several nagging injuries, one of which involving his neck. It was believed that Danielson may have needed surgery, though he was taking his time deciding over the best course of action to take in terms of his recovery.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Danielson is currently assessing stem cell treatment options in the hopes to avoid needing to undergo surgery. This is due to neck surgeries often keeping wrestlers and other athletes out for an extended period of time. The next steps in Danielson’s recovery journey will all depend on the severity of the damage in his neck.

Danielson recently noted that he was not ‘retired’, but noted that he was unsure about his future inside a wrestling ring due to the current condition of his neck, so it remains to be seen if Danielson’s match at WrestleDream will be his final ever.
