Callum Newman has announced that a new multi-year deal with New Japan Pro-Wrestling is "signed and sealed."
Newman stated during a backstage promo following the first Road to New Beginning event on Monday, January 19 that he was the only foreigner, as far as he knew, that had a "multi-year deal to one of the biggest f*cking companies in the world." Newman then declared he was better than Jay White, Kenny Omega, and Will Ospreay.
Newman tweeted, "signed and sealed," following the promo, suggesting he had inked a new contract with New Japan.
Newman is currently operating as the leader of United Empire in NJPW and the faction are in a programme with Unbound Co. Newman joined New Japan in 2023 after being recruited to United Empire by Will Ospreay, and Newman is a two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, having held the belts with Jeff Cobb and then Great-O-Khan.
A future match between Callum Newman and Will Ospreay was teased at New Year Dash when Ospreay made his return to NJPW and declared he would be back in New Japan and help Newman lead the faction when he recovers from his neck injury. Newman teased hitting Ospreay with a chair before being stopped by HENARE and Great-O-Khan.
Other names who recently committed their futures to NJPW were The Knockout Brothers and Shota Umino. The promotion has begun 2026 with positive momentum, too, following the revival of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
