Chase Owens Re-Signs With NJPW

Big news for Chase Owens

Chase Owens will be with New Japan Pro-Wrestling for the next several years.

The self-proclaimed Texas Heavyweight Champion announced earlier this week that his NJPW contract had expired on January 31, but he revealed while streaming on Twitch a couple of days later that he had re-signed with the promotion.

"I'm going to be in New Japan Pro-Wrestling for a long freaking time. I'm not going anywhere. I'm 'for life.' The money I'm given is worth the sacrifice. I'm not going to say exactly how long. My last contract was two years. It was way longer than two years. I'm 31 now. I'm going to be damn near 40 when my contract comes up," Owens said.

Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reported that Owens' new NJPW contract was for five years. The 31-year-old also received a significant raise and his new deal will feature an annual pay rise.

He is said to be earning between $150-200K, which can be renegotiated at the end of each year.

Owens has been a regular in NJPW since 2015. He is a former KOPW provisional trophy holder and he competed in the G1 Climax tournament for the first time last year.
