While she is currently dealing with a broken orbital bone that will keep her out of action for several weeks, Chelsea Green is not expected to be stripped of the Interim WWE Women's Championship.
Green suffered the injury on the post-SummerSlam edition of Friday Night SmackDown, with the Interim WWE Women's Champion breaking her orbital bone after Lainey Reid landed on her face while executing Fatal Influence's Fatal Flaw finisher to win the tag team match against Green and Tiffany Stratton.
WrestleVotes on Fightful Select has reported that WWE are optimistic about Chelsea Green's injury status and the expectation is Green won't be removed from TV, nor be stripped of the title she only won at SummerSlam. She is scheduled to appear on tonight's SmackDown.
It was also noted that WWE are not looking to do anything that would affect Green's current momentum, and the company were impressed by the social media numbers generated by Green's interim title win at SummerSlam.
Chelsea Green only became Interim WWE Women's Champion at SummerSlam as reigning WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley is on the shelf for several months with a torn meniscus. There were rumblings within WWE about potentially recognising Green as simply the WWE Women's Champion and stripping Ripley of the belt, but it is unknown if those rumblings are still going on.
