Chris Hero Rejected AEW Match With Chris Jericho

Chris Hero turned down AEW match with Chris Jericho

Chris Hero has twice turned down a match with Chris Jericho in All Elite Wrestling.

Hero has not had a televised match since he was released by WWE back in 2020 but the former King of Wrestling has had plenty of opportunities to wrestle for AEW. One match pitched to Hero was for him to make his AEW debut as part of 'The Five Labours of Jericho' during Jericho's feud with MJF in the Summer of 2021. After Hero turned that down, he had the opportunity to face Chris Jericho again during Le Champion's ROH World Title reign in 2022 but Hero rejected a match with Jericho for a second time.

Speaking on Talk is Jericho, Hero revealed why he didn't want to wrestle Jericho: "How do you turn down an opportunity like that once let alone twice, you know? So it's a little embarrassing on my behalf but, the nature of AEW, things are very, I don't wanna say last minute but things are just... it's just the pace is so fast and quick and there's this and you're onto this or whatever and I just thought - I think it was maybe in Chicago I think. I think you wrestled (Tomohiro) Ishii and I was like, okay, one, can I get ready in eight days? Can I get gear in eight days? Because I still have my Kassius Ohno stuff. That wasn't even on my radar as far as I need to get gear made. It's like, well what shape is my body gonna be in when I have a match? So, it was hard to say no to but at the same time, things had kind of worked out."

Hero has since made his in-ring return in West Coast Pro. He first defeated Timothy Thatcher in singles action on November 17 before Hero teamed with KENTA to defeat Kevin Blackwood and Titus Alexander on December 3.

Hero has previously revealed the conditions for him to wrestle in AEW. He is a producer in the promotion as part of AEW and Ring of Honor.
