Chris Hero Wants To Improve AEW Developmental

Chris Hero is eyeing up more work with AEW developmental

When compared to the likes of WWE, AEW doesn’t really have a proper developmental system in place. The company has worked with wrestling schools such as the Nightmare Factory, and Ring Of Honor somewhat acts as a launching pad for certain wrestlers, but in terms of an actual system, AEW is lacking.

Someone who wants to change that, or at least improve what AEW already has, is Chris Hero, who recently joined AEW in a backstage producer capacity. Hero spoke on the Talk Is Jericho podcast with former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, and he ran through various goals of his going forward.

"I want to continue to get better at my job because there are times where you're on a headset and you're either a second slow or you just didn't have the foresight to think of...it's not just what happens, it's what could happen. You have to be ahead of things. I see some of these other guys that are so good at that. I really want to get better at that technical aspect of it. I would like to help foster a bit more development with a lot of the younger guys and girls where we're getting a little more time in-ring, we're watching matches back and creating a dialogue about that. When it comes to Ring of Honor, I just do my best to try and find out what's happening and get it to talent as soon as possible because those days can be pretty hectic. I just want to make everyone's job a little bit easier. I want to be that guy that people can rely on to either know what's going to happen or he knows who to talk to to figure out what's going to happen."

Hero was brought into AEW in the Summer of 2024, and whilst he hasn’t competed in the ring in Tony Khan’s promotion, he has made a comeback elsewhere on the independent scene, returning to the ring for the first time in three years.

Hero has twice been offered an AEW match with Chris Hero but he rejected the pitch on both occasions
