Chris Jericho Reveals Mike Chioda Hasn't Signed With AEW

He could return in the future, though...

On last week's episode of Dynamite, former WWE referee Mike Chioda made his All Elite Wrestling debut. He was the official for two matches on the show as he refereed Cody's TNT Title defence against Scorpio Sky and the main event bout between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy. Chioda was even involved in a storyline as he stopped Le Champion from hitting Cassidy with Floyd the baseball bat despite Jericho telling him to turn around.

The Demo God talked about Chioda's appearance on Dynamite on the latest edition of Chris Jericho's Saturday Night Special and he revealed the longtime referee hasn't signed with AEW.

"Cody and I had been talking about having Mikey come in… So we were thinking we should maybe try and bring him in. I mean, we asked Tony Khan but, you know, it's the middle of the pandemic and bringing in a referee and we've got referees. But we also thought if the time is right let's bring him in for a big match.

"And Cody's very smart, he brought him in and made that TNT match seem special. And then asked me if I wanted to use him. I thought, 'Well, we could really use him in this match and make a story around it.' You know, 'If you want a job you better do the right thing. Do the right thing.' And then of course when the time comes he turns his back, takes it away… I love Chioda, he's a great guy. And he's not signed with us but, hopefully, we can have him come back with us more."
