Chris Jericho Vs. Kenny Omega III Was Pitched For AEW Dynamite In Winnipeg

Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega III could have happened on AEW Dynamite

All Elite Wrestling's debut in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada was almost headlined by a huge match.

Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho revealed that he pitched a singles match with Kenny Omega for AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg. The show took place on March 15, 2023.

"We went to Winnipeg, Manitoba, I pitched Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho. Couldn't get the match, you know why? Trios. Me, Danny, and Sammy had to beat his stupid ass, but still. No singles match, 'Kenny is in a trio.' What are you talking about? This is Kenny Omega," Jericho said.

Kenny Omega was part of the trios division at the time with The Young Bucks and The Elite had just lost the AEW World Trios Titles to House of Black at Revolution.

Instead of a singles match, fans in Winnipeg were treated to a main event of The Elite vs. House of Black vs. Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, & Sammy Guevara for the AEW World Trios Titles.

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega have faced off in singles action twice before. Their first encounter at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 in 2018 sparked the idea for Tony Khan to create All Elite Wrestling. Omega won that match, while Jericho emerged victorious from their second clash at AEW Double or Nothing 2019.
