CM Punk Aiming To Eventually Take Over WWE NXT

CM Punk looking to eventually take over WWE NXT

CM Punk is seemingly planning to be a part of WWE for years to come.

Following his appearance at Deadline, CM Punk was backstage at the December 12 taping of WWE NXT, according to Fightful Select. Punk was hanging out at the WWE Performance Center throughout Tuesday and he gave talents plenty of feedback in the hours before the show began.

CM Punk wasn't simply there to impart some wisdom, however, and Ibou of WrestlePurists has reported that CM Punk's long-term aim is to succeed Shawn Michaels in NXT. Michaels is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative and has been in charge of the day-to-day operations of NXT since 2021. Triple H was previously in charge of the brand but he is now the head of WWE creative and is focused on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

"Like I said on Saturday, CM Punk's long term goal is to succeed Shawn Michaels in NXT. Was told he was buzzing last night, didn't sleep and flew to Orlando. He'll be doing a lot of observing tonight, seeing how things work over there in terms of TV production," Ibou of WrestlePurists tweeted.

CM Punk has experience running a pro wrestling show, having very much been the unofficial sheriff of AEW Collision that saw him pitch creative ideas for talent and determine who was allowed to appear on the show and who was not.
