WWE wrestlers are making more money than ever before, but one of the top stars on the WWE main roster, CM Punk, believes that the talent should be on even more money, especially with the growing success of the WWE/TKO partnership, which is always touting financial milestones.
Speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show, CM Punk gave his thoughts on the current pay of WWE superstars.
“I have done things that I never dreamed possible. I also need to kind of broach the subject of the reason why I think I was so obsessed with the main event of WrestleMania is pay scale and there isn’t a single person that can criticize me that can explain a professional wrestling pay scale. So, if I’m in the main event, I get paid more money. That does not exist anymore. Everybody’s on flat salary and we get paid stupid money for what we do and yes, I do think we all should get paid more based on things I see the company doing and shouting from the rooftops of how much money TKO’s making and all this other stuff. But, I’m 46. I don’t need money at this point in my life. Biggie was right, mo money, mo problems.”
It was revealed this week that CM Punk and WWE were in talks over a new deal, potentially putting pen to paper on a 5-year contract. Punk finally received his WrestleMania main event, losing out to Seth Rollins in a triple threat match in the headliner at WrestleMania 41 Saturday.
