The breakdown of CM Punk and Colt Cabana’s friendship has had a long-lasting impact on both men, with rumours surrounding Colt Cabana’s All Elite Wrestling employment status in 2022 playing a major part in Punk’s dissatisfaction with the company.

During an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour, Punk was asked about whether he could bury the hatchet with Cabana, with Punk bluntly saying:

"Probably not."

The pair were former best friends and ROH World Tag Team Champions, but their relationship ended after Punk’s infamous appearances on Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast, with claims made by Punk as to the conduct of WWE doctor Chris Amann leading to WWE suing both men for defamation, the results of which ended their friendship for good.

Punk did reveal that Cabana attempted to talk with him backstage at an AEW show:

He came up to me one time at a show, I was at the curtain. He came up to me (pre-All Out scrum) and he was like, ‘Hey, can we talk so it’s not weird between us.’ I just said, ‘I won’t ever talk to you without a lawyer present.’ That was it,” said Punk.

Punk continued, noting how his thoughts on Cabana remain unchanged from his All Out media scrum rant:

"Yeah. It caused all this dumb s***, for no reason. Oh, I got the guy fired. He hasn’t been on TV since whenever. It is what it is. I applaud. I said this to Hangman, I get taking up for your friends. I get it. It’s commendable. Right or wrong, I will stand up for my friends, but to go on national television and jeopardise a million dollar house that you ain’t never drawn before, now you’re disrespecting me and disrespecting the business. This is my house. I drew that. Not you. It’s egos," said Punk.
