CM Punk's WWE Raw Return Episode Internally Named 'Hell Frozen Over'

CM Punk and hell has been a common theme since his WWE return

Nine years on from his infamous firing, CM Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series, shockingly appearing in the final moments of the pay-per-view to a monster reception from the fans inside the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Punk is officially back with WWE following his return and he is reportedly under contract for several years, although an exact contract expiry date is not known.

Punk had been particularly critical of WWE during his time away from the company and even two years ago a return looked incredibly unlikely, especially after Vince McMahon turned down re-signing Punk in late 2019. Vince McMahon is no longer at the head of WWE, however, and the Executive Chairman of TKO was not involved in the decision to bring back Punk, with Triple H and Nick Khan the point men on talks with the former World Heavyweight Champion.

Following Punk's Survivor Series return, Triple H posted his customary photo with the new signing with the caption "Mighty cold day in hell #SurvivorSeries." There were then more references to hell on Monday Night Raw as CM Punk began his return promo by saying, "Looks like hell froze over."

This was a key theme of Raw on November 27 and the episode was even internally titled 'Hell Frozen Over', according to Fightful Select.

Following Punk's return, he is set to enter a programme with Seth Rollins over the World Heavyweight Championship with a match reportedly planned for the Royal Rumble on January 27. Plans are also in motion for CM Punk to feud with Roman Reigns at some point in the future.
