CM Punk To Miss WWE WrestleMania With Torn Triceps
CM Punk confirms WWE injury
Jan 30, 2024
CM Punk won't be getting his WrestleMania main event after all.
It emerged on Monday night that CM Punk had suffered a torn triceps in the men's Royal Rumble on January 27, with the Second City Saint believed to have suffered the injury following a Futureshock DDT from Drew McIntyre.
That injury was then confirmed by Punk in the opening segment of Monday Night Raw as the former WWE Champion revealed he had torn his right tricep and will be out of action for the foreseeable future as a result. This ultimately means Punk will miss WrestleMania as the recovery time from a torn triceps with surgery is four to six months.
Before Punk could finish his promo, he was cut off by Drew McIntyre, who told Punk he prayed he would get injured as it means Irn Dru can main event WrestleMania instead. Punk then promised to come back and headline WrestleMania but his first programme back looks set to be with McIntyre as Punk promised to come after him when he's back. Drew responded with a headbutt and a stomp on the injured tricep which brought Sami Zayn out to make the save.
WWE had major plans for CM Punk at WrestleMania and he was scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in one of the headline matches on April 6 or April 7.
Punk previously suffered a torn triceps at All Out in September 2022. He suffered a torn left tricep then, though.
