CM Punk Undergoes Successful Surgery

CM Punk announced he was injured on AEW Rampage June 3

AEW World Champion CM Punk has undergone successful surgery on his lower leg.

The news was released by AEW on the June 8 edition of Dynamite, and although no particulars were given as to the specificities of the operation AEW did confirm that the procedure was successful.

Punk is believed to have suffered the injury on the June 1 edition of Dynamite, where the new champ was in action with FTR against ‘Platinum’ Max Caster and The Gunn Club. Punk later revealed on the live Rampage from Ontario, CA on Friday, June 3 that he was injured, mentioning how he offered to relinquish the title as a result.

The exact nature of Punk’s injury has not been made public by AEW, although Punk was visibly nursing his left foot/lower leg area on June 1. The AEW World Champion ultimately suffered a broken foot and he even quizzed Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer about the injury.

Since returning to the wrestling business in Summer 2021 after eight years away, Punk has wrestled 21 times for AEW, with the former ROH and WWE Champion leaving it all in the ring with every performance.
