CMLL Date For Chris Jericho Vs. Mistico Confirmed

Chris Jericho vs. CMLL's Mistico confirmed

CMLL have revealed the date for the upcoming singles match between Chris Jericho and Mistico.

The promotion announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the bout will happen at the show's 91st Anniversary event. The show will take place on Friday, September 13 in Arena Mexico.

In a video accompanying the announcement, Jericho called the match the biggest in Mistico's career and one of the biggest in his own.

The 53-year-old made a surprise at CMLL's show in Arena Mexico on June 28, wearing a mask to storm the ring and attack the legendary luchador.

Jericho - as Corazon de Leon, AKA Lionheart - wrestled for CMLL during the early years of his career, with his last match for the promotion coming in 1995. Luchablog noted that CMLL have long wanted to bring Jericho back to Arena Mexico.

Jericho and Mistico have only clashed on one previous occasion, when Mistico was wrestling as Sin Cara in WWE (during a six-man tag match at Raw 1,000 on July 23, 2012).

While the inaugural AEW World Champion may well be in the winter of his career, he recently noted that he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
