Cody Rhodes Speaks On Samantha Irvin's WWE Exit

Samantha Irvin shocked the wrestling world earlier this week when she announced her immediate WWE exit, being replaced by Lillian Garcia on Monday Night RAW. This reportedly came after both sides failed to come to an agreement on Irvin focusing on outside projects in addition to her announcing work in WWE, in addition to Irvin seeking more time at home with her daughter away from the rigorous WWE schedule. 

When speaking to The Schmo, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was asked about Irvin’s exit, and had nothing but positive words to say about the popular ring announcer. 

"What a wonderful...I feel like time will tell. In our business, five or ten years after somebody is gone, you hear 'how wonderful. How amazing.' She is top five, maybe top three. Samantha was just killing it. I know with her and WWE, they left on good terms. That's amazing because the door is open in case she ever wants to come back. I've never watched WrestleMania 40 back, but I can hear it still in terms of her very emotional announcement of (me) winning the WWE Championship. That's going to forever be linked to me. Hats off to Samantha. That's one of my homies and I hope to see her down the road. Whatever she does, if you heard her voice, she's going to kill it.”

It was reported that Irvin was not expected to head over to AEW along with her partner Ricochet following her WWE departure. WWE are open to her returning for cameo appearances going forwards.
