With Scott D’Amore owning Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, the classic promotion made a comeback last week with a pair of shows which featured a showcase of stars from different companies, coming together to kick things off with a bang. Stars from both TNA and AEW were present, and when it comes to AEW talent working in MLP, there was a positive reaction from the AEW side.

According to Fightful Select, Maple Leaf Pro made a very positive impression with several of those in AEW. It is noted that whilst MLP had to reach out to AEW talent, with them needing to get approval to work the event, the promotion was different in their approach due to a willingness to promote upcoming AEW shows (doing the same for TNA too). This might have been why AEW was so willing to allow AEW/ROH Championships to be defended at the show. Notably, Konosuke Takeshita defended the AEW International Championship against Josh Alexander, and Athena defended the ROH Women’s World Title against Gisele Shaw.

Scott D’Amore told Cultaholic in an exclusive interview that it was tough working with TNA given D’Amore’s now murky history with the company, but ultimately the two sides worked things out.
