Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena Scheduled For WWE WrestleMania 41

The John Cena retirement tour kicks off on January 6, and it seems as though Cena could be set to face Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 41 as part of his farewell.

Cena has long been expected to have a major match at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that Cena vs. Rhodes is currently scheduled for the show.

The report states that whilst WWE were looking to run Rhodes vs. The Rock at Mania, this is currently not the direction they’re going in, with Rock’s schedule etc. meaning that the amount of his involvement at the show is still up in the air.

Again, due to Rock’s stature both within and outside of WWE then plans could easily change, as Meltzer notes ‘whatever Rock wants to do will happen and plans will change if he wants them to’.

Cena is currently scheduled to appear on the landmark Netflix debut of WWE Raw on January 6, and it remains to be seen if ‘The Great One’ will also make his presence felt on the red brand. Regardless, it is assumed that Mania plans for Cena and/or The Rock will be teased on Raw.
