Cody Rhodes Wins The 2024 WWE Men's Royal Rumble, Sets Up WrestleMania 40 Match With Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes looking to finish the story following his Royal Rumble win

Cody Rhodes might be finishing the story after all!

The American Nightmare became the first wrestler since 1998 to go back-to-back in the Royal Rumble as he won the 2024 Royal Rumble match. Rhodes entered at #15 and scored a number of eliminations, including dumping out Gunther once again to bring the match down to himself vs. CM Punk.

The Second City Saviour was the favourite heading into the match but it was Cody's time once again as after Punk said he didn't wait 10 years to lose to Dusty's kid and set up for a second GTS, Rhodes managed to escape from his shoulders and throw him over the top rope.

Rhodes then wasted no time in declaring his intentions for WrestleMania, pointing directly at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, signalling the WrestleMania 40 main event will be a rematch from WrestleMania 39.

The long-term plan within WWE was for Rhodes to face Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 but that plan looked to be in jeopardy after The Rock returned to WWE at Raw Day 1 to kick off 2024. Rock teased a match with Roman Reigns at that show and reports have since noted that Rock is "headstrong" about having the match at WrestleMania. That WrestleMania will seemingly be WrestleMania 41 now, though.

The question this time, though, will be can Cody Rhodes finish the story?
